Extra miles ain’t an issue with the new Wagon R!

IIPM BUSINESS & ECONOMY
Ever imagined driving 800 kilometres on the concrete carpets without a hitch? Not on earth, right? But now, here is the big daddy of Indian roads – Maruti Suzuki with a new variant to its Wagon R model, and yet again proving why it is what it is! And most certainly, they have cleverly recognised that that the Indian market is a breeding ground for the Indian consumers who care for nothing more than the middle segment vehicles – the A2 segment. When it was launched in 2000, the Wagon R model received a very dull reception and sales never really caught up with Maruti’s flights of fantasy. But luckily, the positioning was in the aforementioned A2 segment and though the car’s tall boy design and boxy looks were difficult to assimilate earlier, it was a smooth ride eventually as arch rival Hyundai Santro had already benchmarked the concept and was selling like hot pan cakes. The consistent upgrades saw the car reach the upper echelons of the top ten selling cars in the country by sales volume. And definitely, launching an upgrade in the A2 segment is a strategically correct move as volume wise, the A2 segment is the main driver in India. Since 1998, this segment is growing at an unprecedented rate recording cumulative sales of 145,603 units in April-June 2006 alone, a full 35% growth over last year.

This second Wagon R upgrade has been more extensive than the first one and has been long-awaited. For once there is enough upgrade on the inside as on the outside. It is reported that the new upgraded vehicle will be 10% more fuel efficient than its predecessor and will offer an LPG variant as well, (available for the first time in this segment) which will allow drivers to switch between the petrol and LPG models at the flick of a button. So the next time you wanna ride, vroom ahead on the all new Wagon R!
