Alyque Padamsee, the iconoclastic ad guru, author, stage and cinema actor was present here for an interactive session with students of IIPM New Delhi. During the session he reflected on his life, his works and his achievements, spanning a period of over five decades, while illustrating how the gen-next should use the power of self motivation in achieving their dreams, goals and vision.
Along the course of the very insightful thoughts being shared by him, he showcased his advertisements – the likes of Bajaj Scooters (Humara Bajaj), Surf (Lalita ji campaign), Liril, Cherry Blossom and other social initiative adverts like family planning, etc. and did an exquisite job of making them contemporary to the young audience. He went on to elaborate the challenging situations in which the adverts were created and the impact the campaigns had on the perceptions of the target audiences.
He encouraged the young audience to follow their dreams and to make their own ‘Karma’. At the end he also mentioned about his book 'A Double Life' and also provided students with his personally autographed edition.
Speaking about his audience, Mr Padamsee commented, “...a fantastic group of students, ...very interactive and attentive”. He gave attention on each and every student personally during the session which also laid down some fundamental principles about taking decisions related to their life, career and areas of interest.
The session came to an end with various queries raised by students covering areas in branding and advertising, the answers of which enlightened one and all. Also present for the occasion were Prof K K Srivastava, Head of Dept (Marketing and Economics), Prof Sham Sharma (Prof of Brand Management), Mr Abhimanyu Ghosh (CEO – Planman Marcom), Mrs. Arundhati Banerji (Dean – Administration), Mr. Jaydip D Gupta (Asst Dean – Academics) and Prof Pushp Lamba (Prof of Marketing).
As a parting statement Mr Padamsee wished all the students present in the conference hall all the best for their future careers and motivated them further to chase their dreams.
