IIPM Proves Its Mettle Once Again...
The students of IIPM Bangalore participated in a 2 day trekking camp organized by IIPM in association with India Hikes. There were 22 students who participated in this outbound team building activity. The students departed to Ooty on the 11th of February and were back on the 13th of February. They enjoyed the whole trip and learned a long of valuable inputs about teamwork from Mr. Arjun Majumdar , The director of India Hikes who had accompanied the students on the trek. There was a team building activity where the students were shown how to pitch tents, and then make teams and pitch the tent and see which team does it the fastest. The students were very happy about the overall experience and requested for more activities like this in the future
GOP Session with Prof. Pucik - IIPM Bangalore
The students of IIPM, Bangalore had a GOP session with Prof. Vladimir Pucik from IMD, Switzerland on the 11th of February, 2011. He addressed the students on how customer orientation works as a marketing strategy. He also spoke to them about how to put oneself in the customers’ shoes and to understand the customers’ wants and needs. He even spoke about how to kindle a new requirement or need in the customers.
The students found this session very helpful and informative as they gained knowledge on how to create needs and wants in the customers and how to cater to the needs and wants of the customers.
IIPM Bangalore - GOP by Prof. Kathryn
On the 26th of February Prof. Kathryn Harrigan from Columbia Business School had visited IIPM Bangalore and had a session with the students. Prof Kathryn spoke about the SYNERGY TRAP which basically spoke about the process of mergers and acquisitions. She is also on the board of directors of many companies and she narrated her experiences of how things work during these mergers and acquisitions. The students got to know how to calculate the worth of a company using the formula that Prof. Kathryn came up with. She also spoke about the valuation of a company, about how companies overpay during the process of acquisition, the areas where the deal can go wrong, how to make the make the most of the deal etc.
